“ I’m addicted to drinking
gasoline "

“ My name is Shannon, I’m 20
years old and I’m addicted to drinking gasoline "
Shannon really addicted to
gasoline and she can’t go a day without it, she will also crave for it. Shannon
needs the gasoline as soon as she wake up from her bed and she will go to the
washroom drinking the gas. Whenever she go out, she will put the gasoline in a
small bottle. To Shannon, gasoline taste like sweet and sour.
Connie who is Shannon’s mother
said, when she first find out about Shannon drinks gasoline she don’t believe
it until she smells Shannon’s breath.
According to TLC, Shannon drinks
up to 12 teaspoons of gasoline a day. That is more than 5 gallons in the last
year.
Shannon addiction has become
worse, until she even found other ways of consuming gasoline which is she will
deep the newspaper in gasoline and eat it.
By looking at Shannon strange
addiction, it really terrifies her sister, Jacqueline. Jacquiline don’t even
know how much has Shannon consumes the gasoline.
“ I really always love the smell
of gasoline. I remember when I was younger, I used to sit behind my mom’s car
and just breath in exhaust fume. It smells good and taste good ", explained
Shannon.
According to Shannon, the first
time she drink gas, it was not good, burns and really pains badly. Shannon was
really upset, alone and always been solely depressed since her parents
separation when she was seven .
Gasoline is a mixture of 150
toxic chemicals refined from crude oil. Drinking gasoline can cause vomiting,
nervous system damage and death.
Whenever Shannon consumes
gasoline, she gets really dizzy. She has really short chest pain and pains in
her stomach and in her intestine.
“ My biggest fear is that she
could die, I couldn’t imagine my life
without her ", said Jacquiline.
While, Shannon’s mother said, “ I will do anything she need for her to just
stop drinking gasoline ".
Shannon knows that her addiction
is not safe and it will kill her but Shannon still cannot stop.
Until one day, Shannon family
makes a gathering to discuss on how they
can help Shannon to quit her dangerously addiction. All of Shannon’s family
members confess sincerely how they really care and love Shannon and how they
really do not want to lose Shannon.
After the gathering, Shannon
agree to meet the doctor for consultation who is Dr Margaret Mitchell, an
Internal Medicine.
Dr Margaret Mitchell tells
Shannon how the gasoline has already destroying her nervous tissue, stomach and
even her intestine are already being infected.
Finally, Shannon promise to stop
consuming gasoline. Shannon has not consumed gasoline since seeing the doctor
and she even plans to start addiction therapy soon.
